Eric Weddle has faced his share of young quarterbacks during 10-plus seasons as a safety in the NFL.

He sees plenty of reason to expect that he and the rest of the rest of the Baltimore Ravens’ defense will have their hands full when they face Chicago Bears rookie Mitchell Trubisky Sunday.

‘He got away with a couple throws that you normally wouldn’t see’

All he needed to do was watch Trubisky’s debut as a starter in the Bears’ loss against the Minnesota Vikings Monday night.

“Shoot, he was impressive,” Weddle told Bruce Murray and Brady Quinn on the SiriusXM Blitz. “He got away with a couple throws that you normally wouldn’t see, rolling out and on the run, throwing across his body and across the field, and it worked out. And then, later in the game, it kind of bit him in the butt, per se, and lost the game when (safety) Harrison (Smith) snagged that pick.

‘He throws amazing on the run on those comeback routes’

“He’s strong. He throws amazing on the run on those comeback routes, on the seven route, even on the one that was incomplete he still put it on the dime. He’s athletic, he’s big and strong, confident back there. We’re excited for the challenge.”

What are the keys to having success against Trubisky?

‘We definitely have to be on our guys and plaster when the quarterback does get outside of the pocket’

“We know we’ve got to keep him in the pocket if we’re going to be successful at all,” Weddle said. “And no broken plays. We had two broken plays last week by (Oakland quarterback) EJ Manuel where we thought he was sacked, got outside the pocket and made two big plays on us. So we definitely have to be on our guys and plaster when the quarterback does get outside of the pocket and when we have the chance to make those plays, we’ve got to make them.”
