Xavier McKinney: Building Towards Greatness in the Big Apple with Giants

In the ever-competitive landscape of the NFL, being part of a team in the playoffs is no small feat. In a recent interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio’s The SiriusXM Blitz with Bruce Murray and Charles Davis, Xavier McKinney shared his thoughts on the Giants’ prospects, their outlook on the upcoming season, and the positive energy inside the locker room.

Positive Energy:

As the conversation with Bruce Murray and Charles Davis progressed, it became clear that the New York Giants are determined to build something special.

“As far as just being a Giant right now, man, it’s a great feeling,” said McKinney. I’ve loved every second of it since I got here. You could tell that we have some great, we’re building something special” “The new staff that came in and the guys in the front office, everything has been great. Everybody just loves the energy in the building. It’s been fun. It’s been an experience, man, and I’m just grateful to be a part of it.”

Darren Waller:

One of the key components of the Giants’ success is their young quarterback, Daniel Jones. McKinney talked about Jones’ growth and how he thinks the team’s addition of Jalin Hyatt and Darren Waller will greatly impact the offense in the upcoming season.

“[Darren Waller is] definitely a challenge, man. He’s a guy that’s one-of-a-kind tight end.” McKinney continued, “You don’t see too many guys that can do what he’s doing at his size, that’s moving how he’s moving, and basically is a receiver playing tight end. So, it’s definitely special to just be able to take the field with him, compete with him.”

Improving This Year:

McKinney reflected on last season’s playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and discussed what the Giants need to do to take their game to the next level.

“We know what we have to do. We know what challenges are in front of us, and we just gotta make sure that we’re prepared, which I know we will be. Like I said, we’ll be good,” said McKinney.
