Harry Styles releases ‘As It Was,’ the lead single from his new album ‘Harry’s House’
Hear Harry Styles’ latest single “As It Was” — the lead single off his third album, ‘Harry’s House’ — on SiriusXM Hits 1.
Harry Styles’ sophomore studio album, Fine Line (released December 2019), gifted us singles like “Lights Up,” “Adore You,” and “Watermelon Sugar” — singles we probably wouldn’t have made it through 2020 without. Today, Harry dropped the lead single from his third album, Harry’s House (out May 20, 2022), titled “As It Was,” and you can hear it on SiriusXM Hits 1 (Ch. 2).Thankfully, this is no April Fools joke. “As It Was” was written by Harry himself as well as Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson, who both worked extensively as writers and producers on Fine Line, and the official music video was shot in London and directed by Tanu Muiño.
Harry also called in from Coachella rehearsals in Los Angeles to talk to Hits 1’s Morning Mash Up about this big release.
“I think it’s inevitable that if you’re going to make something that you care so much about, you’re going to feel pressure and a lot of kind of vulnerability when putting it out,” Harry explained about the new music. “I think then you kind of have a choice about how you approach it, and I feel very lucky that this is kind of the proudest I’ve been of something that I’ve made so far. And I feel like kind of the most comfortable I’ve been with myself and happiest with what I’m making and the best I’ve felt about something that I’m making.”
The rest of the 13-track Harry’s House album comes to us in less than two months, and the title is already Joni Mitchell-approved, as it comes from her 1975 song, “Harry’s House / Centerpiece.” Harry has always paid special homage to musicians who came before him, from working with Mick Fleetwood on his latest Pleasing collection to his undeniable Mick Jagger wardrobe inspiration.

In addition to headlining the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April alongside Billie Eilish and Ye, Harry will complete his Love On Tour run across the UK, Europe, and South America from June through December.
Last year, Harry took home the GRAMMY for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Watermelon Sugar” in addition to two other nominations. While he’s not eligible for this year’s GRAMMYs, we’re sure Harry’s House will be a contender in 2023.
