Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich has ruled out safety Mike Mitchell for Saturday’s divisional-round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
During an appearance on Late Hits Tuesday night, Reich said Mitchell, who left last Saturday’s wild-card victory against the Houston Texans with a calf injury, is “not going to be up” for the Chiefs’ game.
“(Mitchell’s) deal’s a little more serious, so we’re not anticipating him being up.”
The Colts’ other safety, Malik Hooker, has a foot injury and did not participate in Tuesday’s walk-through practice. Reich said Hooker was “day-to-day,” but was more definitive about Mitchell.
“His deal’s a little more serious, so we’re not anticipating him being up,” the coach told co-hosts Lance Medow and Bill Polian.
