Jalen Tabor would shut down Odell Beckham Jr., knows he’s the “best defensive back” in college football

Florida Gators defensive end Jalen Tabor may be soft spoken, but he doesn’t lack confidence. Especially when talking about his talent on a football field.

That’s why he’s not afraid to tell SiriusXM Sports that he would completely shut down Odell Beckham Jr. if he covered him an entire game 1-on-1. Well, that’s not fair…Tabor says OBJ would have one catch on his stat line.

“One catch for -2 yards, and zero touchdowns,” Tabor said. For what it’s worth, through two seasons and 27 regular season games Beckham Jr.’s lowest output is a two reception for 28 yards effort against Philly in Week 6 of the 2014 season.

When asked about whether the Gators will win a national championship, and if he’d be the defensive MVP of that game, his answers were no less self-assured.

“Without a doubt.”

Tabor, who was somehow left off of the preseason Thorpe Award watch list, told Bleacher Report Radio on Tuesday that the snub is simply a “motivating factor” heading into the season.

“I know I’m the best defensive back in college football,” Tabor said.

Tabor is coming off a marquis season in which he notched four interceptions, including two that were returned for touchdowns. The Gators junior thinks his success last season might actually be a reason why he’s not being mentioned for the award.

“They probably kept me off of it because they probably didn’t think quarterbacks would throw my way a lot, and I wouldn’t get as many opportunities on the ball to make plays,” Tabor said.

Tabor gets the opportunity to show off his skills in the Gators’ season opener against the University of Massachusetts on Sept. 3.
