Jerry Jones is a little more than a week away from one of the more exciting days of his life.

The Dallas Cowboys’ owner will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But looming in the background is the NFL’s decision on what to do about Jones’ prized running back, Ezekiel Elliott, who faces potential discipline for domestic violence.

‘There’s no domestic violence involved here’

“I think we’ll have a decision imminently,” Jones told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt during their SiriusXM Training Camp Tour stop at the Cowboys’ Camp in Oxnard, Calif. “Of course, I don’t know what that will be and wouldn’t want to have conjecture in any way involving that.

“What I have seen, though, is the presentation of Zeke and his people and I’ve seen the league’s presentation. There’s no domestic violence involved here.”

‘I arrived desperate, it has always felt urgent’

As for the honor he is about to be bestowed, Jones, known for his brash and bold personality, seems a bit humbled. He reflects on his early as an NFL owner and never forgets feeling like an underdog, taking over a once-proud franchise that was struggling on and off the field. Through the years, Jones would establish himself as one of the most successful owners in all of professional sports, creating innovative business ideas shared by teams throughout the NFL and in other leagues.

“I arrived desperate, it has always felt urgent,” Jones said. “I have always thought I couldn’t talk about something unless I was either trying it or had done it. So every step of the way, we all know what a walk-on is in college, they didn’t get a scholarship. I’m a walk-on, in manner of speaking, to the NFL.

‘I am appreciative to get this recognition, but I think there is a lot to accomplish as we look forward with this great game’

“The NFL, the Cowboys made me go places I would have never gone had I not come to the Cowboys and the NFL, and it just fed on itself. I am appreciative to get this recognition, but I think there is a lot to accomplish as we look forward with this great game.”
