Kyle Williams hasn’t ‘exhausted’ himself in pursuit of championship ‘dream’ with Bills
Kyle Williams’ hunger to win a championship with the Buffalo Bills drove him to return to the team for a 13th season.
It took 12 seasons, but Kyle Williams finally realized what it was like to be in an NFL playoff game.
That happened last January, as the Buffalo Bills’ defensive tackle helped the team end a 17-year playoff drought. The Bills wound up losing in the wild-card round at Jacksonville, and that only served to make Williams hungrier for more.
‘Obviously, I’ve loved being a Buffalo Bill, love wearing those colors every Sunday’
When the team offered him a chance to return for a 13th season on a one-year contract, he couldn’t say no.
“When it comes down to it, I really haven’t exhausted myself in the pursuit of my dream,” Williams told Alex Marvez and Bill Polian on Late Hits. “And that’s playing in the NFL, playing for a championship, being a champion. Obviously, I’ve loved being a Buffalo Bill, love wearing those colors every Sunday. I’ve done it for so long. The place means so much to me that I don’t want to do it anywhere else.”
‘The more guys that you have like that around you and on your team, the better shot that you have’
The Bills turned to free agency to put someone next to Williams on the interior of their defensive line: Carolina Panthers free-agent tackle Star Lotulelei. Williams is excited about the prospects of them forming a formidable duo.
“I’m all for adding guys like Star, guys that are great players, that are tough guys, that are character guys, that we can go in and get to work together and really dive into this 2018 season coming up and try to be the best team that we can be,” Williams said. “Obviously, we have a lot of work to do and a long way to go. But the more guys that you have like that around you and on your team, the better shot that you have.”
