Raiders’ Murray: ‘I think now we’ve arrived’

The transformation didn’t begin Sunday night, during the Oakland Raiders’ 30-20 victory against the Denver Broncos.

It didn’t begin at any point this season, according to running back Latavius Murray, who ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Raiders to their biggest win in a long time and gave them sole possession of first place in the AFC West.

‘We can win, we find ways to win and we’re a better team’

“Starting with last year, the beginning of last year, the things we started to change, the mentality around here, we were building something,” Murray told Bruce Murray and Brady Quinn on the SiriusXM Blitz. “And I think now we’ve arrived. I think now we know what it takes to win. We can win, we find ways to win and we’re a better team.”

That doesn’t mean the Raiders believe they have achieved anything remotely close to playing their best football.

‘We want to work towards just coming together on three phases’

“We know we need to keep working towards that,” Murray said. “I think (Sunday) night we had a pretty solid, all around game, but we want to work towards just coming together on three phases and continue to get better because there’s still a lot of games left. We play a tough division where anything can happen right now. We’ve just got to continue to work.

“We knew that (the Broncos) were giving up some rushing yards, so just like any game, we know we need to run the ball well. I think this offense, with (quarterback) Derek (Carr), can be very, very explosive when we’re running the ball well. We wanted to exploit that. It started with the offensive line. They were great. They got us back to that second level and we were able to make some plays.”
