Robert Woods on Rams’ motion-heavy, fast-paced offense: ‘I think it makes us very dangerous’

What has done as much as anything to help keep the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive dominance rolling is the scheme of coach Sean McVay, who has the offense doing plenty of moving before the snap and operating at a fast pace.

The Los Angeles Rams have plenty of offensive talent, beginning with quarterback Jared Goff.

That’s where it starts for a team that, in scoring a 38-31 victory against the Minnesota Vikings Thursday night, became the NFL’s 13th since 1991 to score 140 or more points through a 4-0 start.

‘The biggest thing is we’re pushing the tempo, we’re giving them different looks’

But what has done as much as anything to help keep the dominance rolling is the scheme of coach Sean McVay, who has the offense doing plenty of moving before the snap and operating at a fast pace.

“I think it makes us very dangerous,” wide receiver Robert Woods, who caught five passes for 101 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings, told SiriusXM NFL Radio’s Lance Medow. “I think (defenses) have to find and locate the guys, look at our weapons, at our pace. So the biggest thing is we’re pushing the tempo, we’re giving them different looks. I think it’s hard for the defense and I think we’re moving so fast, you can tell when you’re getting to the defense.”

‘We knew we’d have to be on point’

Scoring 38 points against the NFL’s No. 1-ranked defense in fewest points and yards allowed last season is no small accomplishment. Doing so with a short week of preparation is even more impressive.

“We knew they were going to play well, we knew they’d have the great defense,” Woods said. “But we knew we’d have to be on point, we’d have to deliver, be consistent, lock in, focus. And I think that showed.

‘The offense and the team played consistent football and got us the win’

“It was a long, competitive game, back and forth. It came down to the wire, but I think the offense and the team played consistent football and got us the win.”
