Here’s how the SXM Big Ten Radio team voted to shape this week’s edition of the “Power Rankings” after week six of the 2022 season.

  1. OHIO STATE 

C.J. Stroud tied a school record with six touchdown passes and No. 3 Ohio State coasted to a 49-20 win over Michigan State on Saturday. The Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) scored on their opening drive for the fifth straight game when Marvin Harrison Jr. caught his first of three touchdowns. TreVeyon Henderson ran for 118 yards and a touchdown.

  1. MICHIGAN

Cornelius Johnson’s 29-yard touchdown catch midway through the third quarter Saturday gave No. 4 Michigan the lead and the jolt it needed to pull away from Indiana 31-10. Michigan improved to 6-0 for the second straight season, the first time they’ve achieved that feat since 1976-77.

  1. PENN STATE

  1. ILLINOIS 

Backup, walk-on kicker Fabrizio Pinton hit a 36-yard field goal with 2:46 to go and Matthew Bailey made a late interception to lift Illinois to a 9-6 win over Iowa on Saturday night, its first over the Hawkeyes since 2008. Illinois is off to its best start since a 6-0 mark in 2011.

  1. PURDUE

Aidan O’Connell threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns, and Purdue held on for a 31-29 victory over Maryland on Saturday. The two teams went scoreless in the second half until a wild finish that included four touchdowns in the final 7:47.

  1. MINNESOTA

The Golden Gophers had a bye week

  1. MARYLAND 

The Terrapins came up short 31-29 against Purdue at Home on Saturday.

Graham Mertz threw for a career-high 299 yards and matched one with five touchdowns, Chimere Dike set personal bests with 185 yards receiving and three TD catches, and Wisconsin dominated in interim coach Jim Leonhard’s first game, pounding struggling Northwestern 42-7 on Saturday.

  1. IOWA 

The Hawkeyes lost on the road to Illinois by a score of 9-6.

  1. NEBRASKA 

Casey Thompson threw a go-ahead 27-yard touchdown pass to Trey Palmer with 8:54 to play and Nebraska beat Rutgers 14-13 Friday night. Safety Myles Farmer set up the game-winning score with an interception and return.

  1. INDIANA 

The Hoosiers were beaten at home by Michigan 31-10.

  1.  RUTGERS 

The Scarlet Knights lost a Friday night home game to Nebraska 14-13.

13.  MICHIGAN STATE 

Ohio State ran all over the Spartans 49-20.

NEXT: At Home Saturday versus Wisconsin

14. NORTHWESTERN

The Wildcats lost at home to Wisconsin by a score of 42-7.
