The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs ended the second round on Sunday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. Here’s a look at the Power Rankings after the Bank of America Roval 400:

1. Chase Elliott

He came very close to becoming the season’s second back-to-back winner as Elliott followed up his Talladega win with a strong outing on the Roval. He led 30 laps and looked well on his way to Victory Lane until the late race cautions wiped out his lead and Elliott lost everything on the ensuing final restart to come home with a bitter 20th place finish.

2. Denny Hamlin

He finished the round with a third relatively quiet afternoon and Hamlin’s 13th place performance was more than enough to propel him into the next round where he hopes to secure a berth in the Championship 4 at Phoenix.

3. Christopher Bell

He needed to win to stay in the championship picture and he did just that at Charlotte. The day’s late caution gave Bell and crew chief Adam Stevens the chance to do what they needed to and put the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Toyota in position to win the race. Bell was able to lead the final two circuits and pick up the checkered flag.

4. William Byron

Byron’s win came earlier in the week when the Hendrick Motorsports team won its appeal and 25 points docked after Texas were put back into Byron’s total. He qualified second and didn’t lead any laps at Charlotte but it was all still enough for Byron to move on in the Playoffs.

5. Chase Briscoe

Survive and advance has been the motto for Briscoe and the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing team during the Playoffs and they did it again in Charlotte. Briscoe’s ninth place finish wasn’t pretty my any means but it got the job done and he will advance to the next round.

6. Tyler Reddick

The Richard Childress Racing driver was in pursuit of his fourth win of the season and third on a road course in 2022. Reddick had his Chevrolet in front for 21 laps before eventually getting caught in the closing laps mayhem to finish eighth on Sunday.

7. Ryan Blaney

One of the many drivers not happy with the way others in the field handled themselves in the closing laps. Blaney said he was run over by several and all the Team Penske driver could do is get his car home to a 26th place finish at the Roval.

8. Joey Logano

The good news for Logano is the weekend started off great as he won the pole and paced the field for 27 laps. But things went downhill in a hurry after that and when the closing laps chaos broke out Logano crossed the finish line with a disappointing 18th place finish.

9. Ross Chastain

It was a difficult day of mechanical issues for both Chastain and his Trackhouse Racing teammate Daniel Suarez. Chastain’s challenges saw him plummet in the field to an eventual 37th place finish despite running upfront earlier in the race and leading three laps.

10. Kyle Larson

The defending series champ’s hope of becoming a repeat champion ended on Sunday when Larson broke a toe link ending his day with a 35th place finish to ensure a new driver winning the title in 2022.
