Titans’ Derrick Henry on his NFL record 99-yard TD run

‘I just got the ball and a head of steam’
The result was Henry running for 99 yards for a touchdown, tying Tony Dorsett for the longest running play in NFL history, in the Titans’ 30-9 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday night.
“We wanted to make it about us as a team, us going out there and starting fast and being efficient’
“It was so fun because before that play, everybody was talking in the huddle, ‘You’ve got to take it 98, you’ve got to 99,’” Henry told Alex Marvez on Late Hits. “My main focus was getting positive yards out of the carry, and once I got the ball and a head of stream, I just tried to hit it. And then I was one-on-one with the corner.”
‘A credit to all those guys who blocked for me’
Henry, who also had a 54-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, stiff-armed and swatted away Jaguars defenders on the 99-yard scoring run.
“I wasn’t going down easy and it turned into more positive yards and it turned into a 99-yarder. A credit to all those guys who blocked for me. It wasn’t happening without all 11 of us executing…”
‘I just had to go out there and do my part of the job’
“We wanted to make it about us as a team — us going out there and starting fast and being efficient in the run game, and being consistent and the offensive line did a great job. I just had to go out there and do my part of the job. That was my main focus, being consistent and being efficient, being hungry, running hard and finishing runs.”
