It has only been two weeks, but safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix already is feeling right at home as a member of the Washington Redskins.
The Redskins haven’t hesitated to try to get the most out of him right away, giving him 50-plus snaps in his first game, against the Atlanta Falcons.
‘The guys on the back end communicate a lot, they make my job easy’
“I told them I wanted to come in and contribute any type of way and the guys did a great job — my teammates, my coaches — of getting me lined up, helping learn the playbook quicker and fast,” Clinton-Dix told Bruce Murray and Bruce Gradkowski on the SiriusXM Blitz. “The guys on the back end communicate a lot, they make my job easy, (as does) being in the playbook and spending some time with the group — and when I say group, I mean 36 (fellow safety D.J. Swearinger). He’s a hell of a player and a student of the game, so I spent some time with him and caught up on the playbook, and I’m just playing fast. I’m with a lot of talented players and a lot of guys with experience. I mean, it’s been fun these last two weeks.”
Clinton-Dix couldn’t have been happier when he learned the Green Bay Packers, who made him a first-round draft pick from Alabama in 2014, were shipping him to the Redskins on Oct. 30.
‘Any time a team wants to trade for you, it goes to show that your value isn’t going unnoticed’
“Man, I was so excited,” he said. “I got the call at 3:58, right before the four o’clock deadline trade. My former GM told me I was being traded to the Washington Redskins, and I was so excited being able to partner up with a guy like DJ Swag. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime, so glad to be here. … Any time a team wants to trade for you, it goes to show that your value isn’t going unnoticed.”
